Expand the Reach of School DBS in Lima, Peru
There is an emerging gospel movement happening right now in Peru and you can provide crucial resources to fan the flame today.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening:
A neighborhood Discovery Bible Study produced 13 new followers of Jesus in 2023
One of those new followers started DBSs for parents in a school where she worked
In just a few short months, the volunteer-led DBSs expanded to include the entire student body as well as four other schools, because of the significant life transformation witnessed
More than 1,000 people attend these DBSs every week (parents and students)
More than 100 people have become believers of Jesus, with around 60 lapsed believers revived to live life in Christ
Targeted help to combat addictions, violence, suicide, and gang involvements has birthed from the DBSs
Local churches in the area have decided to “drop everything” to help this ministry because God is so clearly at work and we believe your prayer and financial support will catapult it forward.
There is a waiting list of five additional schools hoping the team will start DBSs with them. However, they are at capacity and can’t currently handle more schools. Many of the volunteers are already traveling daily to the schools to run DBSs in every classroom.
We need $25,000 to support and expand this work in the Lima schools in 2025. These funds will increase the team’s capacity by providing for these crucial needs:
Transportation (bus fare) for volunteers to travel to schools to lead DBSs
Printed materials for use in the DBSs
Training for new volunteers to expand the number of schools that can be reached
A dedicated space for volunteers to gather for training, worship, and prayer
Gifts given before Christmas will also go toward purchasing a Christmas gift for each elementary school student who’s been faithfully attending the DBSs and learning to follow Jesus—a fun incentive for kids to stay engaged.
