The story behind the song

“Jesus You’re Worthy” was birthed in 2022 from a place of heartache and a search for hope. Our world was rummaging through the rubble of Covid19, I was grieving the loss of my sister-in-law to the horrors of cancer, and I longed for a vision of Jesus that would give me the courage to keep going. I wasn’t alone in this longing. The Church needed a refreshed vision for healing and direction for how to come together as a healing presence in the world. “Jesus you’re worthy to follow, in you we abide….” is a declaration of our trust in God. Then our active response becomes, “You’re worthy of worship, dancing, all color and light - of billions lifting you high.” This paints the picture of our extravagant hope. I first shared this song at Novo Mission’s global conference aligned with the theme “Worthy.” In the midst of our pain we hold hope in God’s promises, reminding ourselves and one another that Jesus is worthy of everything, and He makes us worthy.

JESUS YOU’RE WORTHY (LYRICS)

VERSE 1: Your goodness and mercy have followed us here

In sorrow and joy, in laughter and tears

Through valleys of death and battles with fear

In praise and lament you always are near

Before the world was made

You have been our dwelling place

CHORUS: Jesus You’re worthy to follow in you we abide

We lay down surrender our lives

You’re worthy of worship, dancing, all color and light

Of billions lifting you high

Jesus you’re worthy, worthy worthy

In everything worthy, worthy worthy

VERSE 2: Your spirit is leading to places unknown

A plentiful harvest, with seeds left to sow

We’re willing to suffer, and comforts forgo

We rest in your shadow you’re our cornerstone

No place we can escape

No matter how far your love remains

[CHORUS]

VERSE 3: You spread out abundance, a table you made

Inviting all nations, all sinners all saints

You make us worthy, you call us by name

We come to your table, saved by grace

Beyond what we have seen

Your glory spreads and all is redeemed

[CHORUS]
