Iraq Giving Fund

What you need to know

Thank you for your interest in supporting our work in Northern Iraq. One of the Novo team’s focus is on ministry among Yazidi survivors, children, and families who have experienced extreme traumas under ISIS rule. Our staff, in collaboration with a local church, established a community center in Northern Iraq in Ba’dra refugee camp. Kids receive daily educational lessons, discipleship, and care. Yazidi survivors and women who have experienced extreme trauma gather in the center for counseling, weekly trauma healing meetings, and Discovery Bible Study groups. The aim is for those who have experienced war and trauma in their lives to experience hope and the transforming love of Jesus through our instructors, volunteers, and programs.

Currently, this community center has impacted the lives of over 200 former ISIS brides/slaves, as well as 1,500 children who have been rejected by their families due to the shame culture that exists in their tribe. With 200,000 Yazidi refugees living in camps for the last 8 years, many have given up the hope of returning to their homelands. The grief of what they have experienced compounded with the potential life of displacement can feel hopeless. Our staff and volunteers are seeing the vision Jesus offers providing individuals with hope for a life and future with Him. To bring the kingdom to earth and expand this impact is our hope.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Many Yazidi women and children we are serving are having personal experiences with Jesus, finding healing, and sharing their faith in the community. We are investing in leaders among the survivors, to empower their continued healing and support them as they pour out to others who need care.  Because of the results we are seeing, we have been invited to replicate this type of center and programming in another camp in Northern Iraq, Sharya. Our hope is to bring holistic care and the healing love of Jesus to more survivors, children, and their families so that they may experience healing from their trauma and bring freedom to others who have experienced similar things.

To provide care and support for Yazidis, we need:

  • $50,000 to build the center in Sharya

  • $48,000 to operate the programs annually in Ba’dra

  • $48,000 to operate the programs annually in Sharya

  • $26,000 to provide monthly relief packs

Your prayer support provides the spiritual covering we need to be effective in this opportunity and your gift will enable many to encounter healing through experience of the love of Jesus and the truth of the Gospel.

Would you prayerfully consider a one-time or monthly gift to help build a community center and operations for Yazidi women and children in camp Sharya?
