About the song

I wrote At The Table this past summer for our staff conference, and the theme of the year for Novo was on The Table. A table is a place for gathering. A table is a place for eating. To do homework. Where business happens. A table is a place where friends meet and talk about the day. But ultimately, a table is a place where we gather. And there's unity. We're all on the same plane at a table.

And when I started thinking about the idea of the table that God sets for us, that at this table, our whole self is welcome. Everyone is welcome at this table. We're not to bring just our best self. We're to bring all of ourselves. We're to bring all of our laughter, all of our joy, all of the wonder and all of our sorrow, all of the brokenness, all of our woundedness. We bring it to the table and we say, “God, this is who I am.” And God says, “Lay everything out at this table. You're all welcome at this table.”
